New exciting projects are coming up in different parts of Punjab. These are significant additions to the development of this state and also strengthen highways and boost the improvement of infrastructural developments. Nitin Gadkari, the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of several projects in Punjab on January 10, 2024. Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, Nitin Gadkari (@nitin_gadkari) shared glimpses of his recent Punjab tour. It was on Wednesday when he visited the state and worked on many highway projects.

The minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of a total of 29 national highway projects in this state. These developments are worth a massive budget of ₹4,000 crore. Once operational, all these highway projects will play an important role in easing transportation along with providing seamless and convenient experiences for vehicles on the road. Another likely major positive impact will be the economic development in the locations of the projects.

On Wednesday, the Union Minister laid the foundation stones for different highway projects. Some of these infrastructural developments are:

  • 9 road projects in Amritsar, Kapurthala, and Ludhiana
  • The 4-laning of the Hoshiarpur-Phagwara road
  • Construction of 4-laning of the Ferozepur bypass

The grand 4-laning of the Hoshiarpur-Phagwara road will not only just connect these places but also initiate high-speed connectivity of 100 kmph. The total time taken to travel here will also decrease to half an hour from an hour, according to a report by The Print.

Here’s More About The National Highway Projects In Punjab

Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of several important projects yesterday that are expected to provide great experiences with connectivity and seamless journeys as well. A 6-lane flyover, a 2-lane road over bridge, and the Ladhowal bypass are some of the many projects coming up in Ludhiana.

More projects among others are:

  • Construction of 4-laning of the Jalandhar-Kapurthala section
  • Construction of 3 bridges on the Jalandhar-Makhu road
  • 4-laning of Talwandi Bhai to Firozpur

During the Punjab tour, Nitin Gadkari announced some projects such as a 4-lane bypass at Mukerian, a 4-lane bypass connecting Tanda and Hoshiarpur, and more. All these are primarily focused on enhancing connectivity.
