No Food Is Cooked Or Served To G20 Dignitaries Without A Lab Test, Ensures Delhi’s Food Safety Dept

The G20 dignitaries and delegates staying in city hotels will receive hygienically prepared food thanks to decisions taken by the Delhi government’s Department of Food Safety. 19 five-star hotels in New Delhi and the Aerocity area have been carefully selected to house international guests during the summit. Now the food safety department has ensured that no food will be cooked or served without going through a lab test for G20 dignitaries.

A team of 18 food safety officers has been deployed by Delhi’s Food Safety Department. The team has been methodically collecting samples of the raw food items used in these hotels.

They perform routine inspections and sample collection. But a senior department official noted that given the importance of the G20 summit, the routine checks are not enough. Hence, they dispatched 18 food safety officials and started laboratory testing of the samples collected from these hotels on Monday.

The food safety officers will check more than just the food items. They will also make sure that the kitchens and workers uphold strict levels of hygiene, including regular utensil cleaning. Additionally, in cooperation with the local police, all cooked food will be subject to careful surveillance and sampling for quality checks.

These food safety inspectors will check the kitchens and the raw food supplies purchased by various hotels. Only after the lab tests are obtained in a timely manner will the raw ingredients be used for cooking. (As per The Economic Times)

The two-day summit has already witnessed the arrival of a number of world leaders. The dignitaries will be staying at 23 five-star hotels, all of which have undergone stringent food safety inspections.

The food safety officers will also keep a close eye on the meals provided at banquets and other summit-related events. Food sample reports typically take 15 to 20 days to arrive. But the officer promised that in this case they would be rushed and made available right away.

This all-encompassing strategy includes tasting and evaluating every dish and drink that will be served at banquets, high tea, breakfast, lunch, and supper throughout the summit. This includes snacks and tea. The dedication of the Delhi Food Safety Department highlights how crucial it is to guarantee the highest levels of food safety for the illustrious attendees of the G20 conference.
