Visit These 4 Temples In Lakshadweep

1. Shree Shiva Kshethram

This temple in Lakshadweep’s Kavaratti was erected in 1978 and the poster outside this temple says Sree Mahadeva Temple. You can seek blessings from many gods and goddesses as there are separate chambers for them. It is a one-stop temple to perform aartis for Mata Rani, Lord Hanuman, Shivling, Lord Ganesha, and more. The temple is simple with subtle orange-coloured walls with simple decorations. You can even find mantras of Lord Shiv on the walls. There is a five-layer oil lamp that looks so beautiful after it is lit up during aartis.

2. Sree Krishna Temple

All the devotees of Lord Krishna have to visit this quaint temple in Lakshadweep’s Minicoy. It is located near the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB). You can enjoy a kirtan or a session of devotional singing with instrumental music which will immerse you in the pristine spiritual ambience of this temple. It is believed to be established during the times when dynasties from South India influenced the Lakshadweep. This is also reflected in the way this temple is styled; it is a mixture of Kerala and Dravidian architecture. Here Janmashtami is celebrated with much vigour.

3. Hanuman Mandir

We found this one on the Google Maps of Lakshadweep’s Amini. There isn’t much information about this temple in Lakshadweep but we are guessing that it is a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. You can visit this temple on Tuesdays and seek blessings. If you are someone who fasts on this day, visiting this temple will be fruitful for your fast. You can reach this temple from the main jetty of Amini.

4. Shiva Temple

We did some more digging and found another temple which is right in the middle of houses and near the police station. A small room with a shed has been converted into a Shiva temple. It is not always open and the panditji closes the doors when the pujas are done. There are mantras written on the walls on the left and right side of the temple door along with a beautiful painting of a shivling. After you are done visiting the temple, just go for a quick fun time near the water body.
