Emirates unveils world’s first integrated “biometric path” at Terminal 3 in Dubai International Airport.
What Is It?
The latest biometric technology launched at Dubai International Airport is a mix of facial & iris recognition which means that travelers can now check-in for a flight, complete immigration formalities, enter Emirates Lounge, & board their flights, simply by strolling through the airport.
The equipment has been installed at Emirates Terminal 3 at select check-in counters, Emirates Lounge in Concourse B for premium passengers & at select boarding gates. The biometric path will improve customer experience and customer flow through the airport with fewer document checks and less queuing.
What Else?
The “live” passenger tracking capability will also enable the Emirates airport team to locate and assist late customers who would otherwise miss their flights. We can now breathe a sigh of relief.
Currently, the trials for the Smart Tunnel are ongoing, where passengers simply walk through a tunnel and are cleared by immigration authorities without human intervention or the need for a physical passport stamp. It is a world-first for passport control.
