New Year’s Eve is just days away and as Dubai gets ready to welcome the New Year, the Dubai Police has issued information about road closures. Yes, according to a report by the Khaleej Times, it was revealed that major roads in Dubai will be closed for New Year celebrations from 4 PM onwards. As a result, timings have been unveiled for December 31 by the officials.

The Dubai Police has revealed that from 4 PM onwards on December 31, Sunday, major roads in Dubai will be closed. Yes, according to the Dubai Police, residents coming from the Downtown area and other popular locations are advised to begin their trips early or use public transport. This has been advised as roads across several locations in the emirate will start closing at 4 PM.

What Roads Will Be Closed?

In case you’re wondering about all the roads that will be closed on December 31st, here are the timings as mentioned in the report.

  • Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard will close at 4 PM.
  • Upper level of the Financial Road will close at 8 PM and the lower level will close at 4 PM.
  • Al Asayel Road will close at 4 PM.

And it’s worth mentioning that traffic from these roads will be diverted to the Sheikh Zayed Road. However, this road, which is the base major highway will be closed at 9 PM for all kinds of traffic.

Preparations are underway for New Year’s Eve and 32 locations have been marked on the event committee’s security plan. Some of these include Burj Khalifa, Festival City and Burj Al Arab, to name a select few.

Public Transport Is The Way To Go!

So, if you are looking to travel through the public transit system to avoid this traffic, you will be pleased to know that there are some metro stations where you can park your cars for free. Yes, as long as you travel on the metro, the car parking is free and these metro stations include –

  • Centrepoint Metro Station, Rashidiya
  • Jabel Ali Metro Station, Jebel Ali
  • Etisalat by e& Metro Station, Al Qusais

While you can use this car parking space even if you don’t use the Metro, it will then cost you AED10 per hour, which can rise to a maximum of AED50 per day.
