Incidents of flights making an emergency landing at different airports seem to be increasing in recent times. We often come across news and headlines of planes returning to their take-off airport or diverting the route en route. This time, something similar occurred with an Air India Express flight and it had to return to the Kolkata airport, the place from where it departed on Monday.
Air India Express Flight Made An Emergency Landing At The Kolkata Airport
Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, Prithwi (@Prithwi25323411) claimed that the engine failed mid-air.
It wasn’t a minor fault , the engine failed mid air and the flight had to do an emergency landing back at Kolkata airport. There should be some investigation done to avoid any future potential failures

It was around 5:10 PM on Monday when the flight took off from the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport. It was a Bhubaneswar-bound flight. After departing from the City of Joy, the plane carrying passengers and crew members decided to return to the departing airport and make an emergency landing within less than an hour of take-off.
Reports surfacing online state that the take-off was smooth and proper without any such inconveniences. The journey had just begun and the Kolkata-Bhubaneswar flight faced some issues while flying mid-air. Passengers onboard claimed how they have heard a sound that seemed like bursting, according to a report by India Today. The incident of hearing something unusual happened at about 5:40 PM en route the air journey. After hearing the bursting-like sound in the air, the pilot made the emergency landing.
A technical snag was reported following which the plane was returned to Kolkata after flying for only some time. The flight made a turn back to the City of Joy at about 6 PM safe and sound. The concerned departments and engineers of Air India Express were present at the airport premises to take a look at the reason behind the sound and inspect the incident. They were investigating everything to find out the cause of the technical snag.
Another Flight Was Arranged For The Passengers Stuck In This Situation
After this unavoidable incident of emergency landing, Air India Express arranged another plane for the flyers waiting to travel to Bhubaneswar from Kolkata. The new flight departed at 8 PM from the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport.
