Odisha Opens Swanky Silver City Boat Club To Boost Tourism In Mahanadi River

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Silver City Boat Club at Cuttack via virtual mode. The aim is to boost tourism and promote water-based recreational activities on Odisha’s biggest river, Mahanadi. Odisha Tourism created the renovated boat club through Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC). The investment for the project was around ₹2 crores. Cyclone Fani, which took place in 2019, ravaged the infrastructure of the boat club. The revamping has incorporated a booking counter, a floating jetty, toilet complex, children’s park, parking space, a complex for lifeguards and a restaurant.

The Boat Club Will Boost Water Sports In Odisha

The Silver City Boat Club was recently inaugurated in Cuttack, Odisha to boost tourism on the Mahanadi river. According to a Hindustan Times report, CM Naveen Patnaik said, “To tap the state’s tourism potential incorporating water bodies, we are rapidly developing tourism and hospitality infrastructure in identified areas”. Tourism Minister J P Panigrahi said, “This project comes with basic infrastructure to support multiple water sports operators and promote water-based tourism offerings in Cuttack and nearby districts. The Activities Will Include Jet Skis, Scuba Diving, Kayaking And More

Activities that will be included in the boat club are Jet Skis, Scuba Diving, Kayaking, Canoeing, Inflatable Boat, Banana Boat, Speed Boats, Day Cruise, Water Scooters, Pedal Boats, etc. For the time being, two operators will commence operations in the boat club. By the next month, a few other operators will also start services. Also, MP Bhatruhari Mahatab has asked the Department of Tourism to include the Maritime Museum in Odisha’s Tourism Map and to explore the prospects of other tourist locations in proximity.
