On one of the episodes of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), superstar and legend Amitabh Bachchan shared with a contestant that before achieving stardom, he was a regular patron of Trincas, the iconic restobar on Park Street, Kolkata, during the 1960s.
For him, during the evenings and nights, he used to go to Park Street, where multiple restaurants sat in a line, including Magnolia, Moulin Rouge, Mocambo, Skyroom, Blue Fox, El Morocco and, of course, Trincas restaurant. The small clip shared by Trincas’ official Instagram page also showed Amitabh Bachchan getting nostalgic about the nightlife in Park Street during that time.

Legendary Actor Talks About Park Street’s Nightlife
Amitabh Bachchan also shared that there were live bands, jazz groups and Western-style musical bands that performed daily for the entertainment of people. Some of those artists have now also joined Bollywood and become successful. The legendary actor mentioned that during that time, it was a big deal to have so many restaurants one after another.
In the caption below the video, Trincas restaurant wrote, “Time travelling to 1960s Calcutta through Amitabh Bachchan’s eyes.” And honestly, his description is quite vivid and makes us imagine Park Street in the 1960s. Trincas also mentioned some other names of the restaurants down Park Street, which included Chowringhee-Prince’s, Firpo’s, Scherazade and the infamous Golden Slipper, where people stayed till 4 am.
