An initial application was made to host Sunburn Festival at Vagator in Goa at a similar mega-scale as it used to take place earlier. Under advice from the Government of Goa, it was decided to not pursue this mega festival
any further due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However bearing in mind the improving situation and with nightlife events slowly making a come-back, Percept has tied up with Hilltop, Vagator to produce a smaller limited capacity Sunburn event from 27-29th Dec at Hilltop, Vagator, Goa. This event is being organised with the support of the requisite authorities. The planning for the same is currently underway and Percept looks forward to welcoming fans to Goa very soon.
The Goa government said it will not grant permission to organise the 15th edition of the Sunburn EDM festival. Reportedly, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said. “The state government has refused the permission to host the Sunburn festival in Goa. I have already signed the file refusing the permission.” The 15th edition of the Sunburn Festival was scheduled for December this year at Vagator where the organisers had earlier announced that only fully vaccinated participants will be allowed.
A large number of festivals and celebrations are getting cancelled worldwide owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the biggest and most happening music and dance event in Asia, Sunburn will not be taking place this year. Every year, the mega fest draws millennials from all across India and the world. Netizens Were Unhappy With Sunburn 2020
Sunburn is usually the most-awaited music and dance event among the youth of the country. But last year it was very different due to the deadly COVId-19 pandemic. Considering the safety, many people were not happy with the decision of the Sunburn organisers to conduct the fest last year. One user commented, “Define 20% capacity? Your yearly capacity claims 15k festival-goers. 20% is still a massive gathering. How many complimentary tickets will be distributed apart from 20% capacity? What are the covid precautions? Are you planning to pay artists?”
