Curly Tales is back with another special Tere Gully Mein episode. This time, we met the talented Zeeshan Ayyub as we explored the streets of Mandi House in Delhi. We spoke about his journey from theatre to blockbuster films like Raanjhanaa, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, and more. But no Tere Gully Mein episode is complete without food. The episode also saw us enjoying samosas, chai, kebabs, and more at some of Mandi House’s most loved food joints. Here’s everything that went down.
Zeeshan Ayyub Talks About His Theatre Days
This episode was all about getting to know Zeeshan Ayyub, his life, and, of course, Mandi House. The area played a major role in shaping his journey from Delhi theatre to some of Bollywood’s most iconic films. And yes, we can never forget his brilliant role as Murari in Raanjhanaa. We kicked off the episode with piping hot samosas and kulhad wali chai from BM Snacks. It is a legendary spot where theatre artists rehearse, gossip, and bond. The place is also known for its chole chawal, rajma chawal, and more.
Zeeshan shared that during his early days, Mandi House had several theatre groups rehearsing in the area. This led us to ask if he ever thought of doing something apart from theatre back then. Zeeshan replied that he was only focused on theatre, because “uska ‘alag hi mazza hai” (It’s fun in its own way). According to him, theatre demands complete dedication, without excuses.

We Enjoyed Beetroot Halwa, Moong Dal Pizza & More
No Tere Gully Mein episode is complete without food conversations. Our next question to Zeeshan was, “jitne kamaal ke aap actor ho, utne kamaal ke foodie bhi ho?” (Are you as great a foodie as you are an actor?) Without missing a beat, he said he is a big foodie and added, “hum unn logon mein se hain jo khaane ke liye jeete hain.” (I am one of those people who live to eat.) We then played our signature ‘This or That’ game with Zeeshan Ayyub, and most of his answers were refreshingly straightforward.
Next, we headed to the iconic Triveni Terrace Cafe at Triveni Kala Sangam. A favourite among Delhi food lovers, the place is always buzzing. We ordered some of their bestsellers, including Beetroot Halwa, Palak Patta Chaat, and more. Since Zeeshan has been living in Mumbai for a long time, we asked if any Delhi traits still stayed with him. He said his love for food has remained unchanged. According to him, Mumbai does not have too many foodies, as people there are more focused on work.
We also spoke about his acting journey. Zeeshan shared that he knew from his college days that acting was what he wanted to do. Everything after that is history. We also talked about how picky he is with his projects.
The episode wrapped up with a stop at ITO to try the famous Swadeshi Moong Dal Pizza. Zeeshan tried it for the first time and gave an honest verdict. He said it was not bad. He also shared some of his favourite food recommendations in Delhi. We wrapped up this special episode by playing a fun game of ‘Never Have I Ever.’
