Tagging Zomato and its founder, Deepinder Goyal, House of Salat’s alleged that despite preparing, packing, and handing over the correct order, the delivery partner mishandled it, yet the blame fell back on the restaurant, leading to a drop in ratings and impacting customer trust.
Calling it a “pattern” on the platform, the restaurant said it had “no way to explain, no way to fix it, and no way to defend” its work. “Our reputation suffers for a mistake we didn’t make,” the post added.
In a detailed note, the restaurant further explained, “We have no access to the customer to explain or resolve the issue. There’s no system that distinguishes between restaurant errors and delivery failures. It becomes a one-sided process where small businesses absorb all the damage, while the logistics side goes unchecked.”
Here’s What The Restaurant Had To Say…
Demanding accountability from Zomato, the Cuttack restaurant in the post, “If delivery is controlled by you, accountability should be too.” They added, “We’re not asking for favours. Just fairness, transparency, and a system that doesn’t punish the wrong people.”
The note also highlighted how crucial ratings are for a restaurant’s business. It stated that this isn’t a minor concern, as ratings directly influence visibility, orders, and overall survival. Every unfair complaint leads to tangible losses, and repeated incidents only reinforce the idea that restaurants are easily replaceable, while the platform’s system remains unquestioned, an approach the restaurant believes is deeply flawed.
