Around 2.05 Lakh Olive Ridley Turtles Laid Eggs
According to The Times of India, around 2.05 lakh Olive Ridley turtles laid eggs on the beach during their four-day mass nesting period from March 14 to 17. After laying eggs, the female turtles return to the sea without waiting for the baby turtles to emerge.
Authorities have even fenced the entire area to prevent the entry of predators like wild dogs, jackals, and hyenas. The entire area has also been declared a no-entry zone. Naturally, the trainee forest rangers were astonished and happy to witness the mass hatching of the baby turtles. All the babies not only emerged from the sand pits but also started their seaward journey in the early hours without any help from their mothers.
