Legendary singer Pankaj Udhas passed away due to prolonged illness in Mumbai today. The Udhas family confirmed the heart-breaking news on social media. He passed away at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital at around 11 this morning. He was 72 years old. The ghazal maestro has been the voice of some of the biggest chart-busters in the Indian music industry and his demise has left the country shaken.

On February 26, India lost one of its most beautiful voices – Padma Shri Pankaj Udhas. The legendary singer passed away at the age of 72 due to some prolonged illness, as confirmed by the family. The news was shared by his daughter Nayaab Udhas. She posted about this sad news on her Instagram handle. According to reports, the singer’s last rites will be held on Tuesday, February 27.

Pankaj Udhas has been the voice behind some of the biggest ghazals and pop songs in the 80s and 90s.
