Peru’s Maido Ranked No. 1 On World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025; Full List Inside

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list for 2025 was announced during the awards ceremony in Turin, Italy. Rising from fifth place in 2024, Peru’s Maido snagged the No. 1 place on the list this year. Spain’s Asador Etxebarri maintained its second place for the second year in a row.

Celebrating and honouring culinary excellence across the globe, the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list for 2025 is out! One of the most prestigious rankings in the gastronomic world, the list was announced during the awards ceremony in Turin, Italy. The list celebrates restaurants across the globe that push the boundaries of creativity, flavour, and dining experience. This year, Peru’s Maido was crowned the best restaurant in the world. World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025

Located in Lima, Maido is a Japanese-Peruvian restaurant led by chef Mitsuharu ‘Micha’ Tsumura. This elegant restaurant secured the top spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 list for preparing dishes with ingredients and traditions from the vast Peruvian Amazon. With this feat, Maido became the second restaurant from Lima to ever top the list.

This year’s list also saw some new entries. One of the most surprising entries was at 13, Bangkok’s Potong. The restaurant got the ‘Highest New Entry Award 2025’. Moreover, the restaurant’s chef, Pichaya Soontornyanakij, was honoured with the “World’s Best Female” award.

Restaurants Redefining Indian Cuisine On The Global Stage

World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 might not have any restaurants from India but there were restaurants representing the Indian cuisine on the list. On No. 6, chef Gaggan Anand’s Bangkok restaurant, Gaggan, represented bold and progressive Indian flavours. The restaurant was also awarded the ‘Best Restaurant in Asia 2025’ and was lauded for its bid to “reinvent the traditional fine-dining experience.”

At 27, Dubai’s Trèsind Studio, under chef Himanshu Saini, also secured the ‘Best Restaurant in the Middle East 2025’ award. This 20-seater restaurant is famous for captivating diners with new yet familiar flavours of Indian cuisine.
