The Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, is slated to visit Greece today. This particular visit is especially significant. This is because, since the visit by Indira Gandhi in September 1983, this will be the first trip by an Indian Prime Minister. This means that Modi is the first Indian prime minister to visit the country in 40 years. His visit will only be for a day but from his itinerary, his schedule is packed!

This particular trip is being taken after the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited India in the year 2019. S Jaishankar, who is the External Affairs Minister of India, also paid Greece a visit in June.
According to an article recently published by India.com, Greek officials are looking forward to receiving PM Modi and are eager to strengthen their diplomatic relations. The officials have recognised that Greece and India both have similar interests and the values of both countries are aligned.
Hence, the visit will deepen the relationship between the countries so that both may benefit from it. During his one-day trip PM Modi is slated to be a part of a host of important meetings as well as business lunch. He will also interact with the Indian community there.
