Vande Bharat Express, the changing face of Indian Railways, is gaining momentum. After the successful inauguration of these semi-high-speed trains in various parts of the country, the Indian government is ready to launch one in Rajasthan! Rajasthan is the largest Indian state and the birthplace of ‘Rajputana’. Adding to its glory, the state is going to receive its first Vande Bharat Express! On April 12 2023, at 11:00 am, PM Narendra Modi will signal the departure of Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat Express train. This event will take place via video conferencing. The inaugural train would run between Jaipur and Delhi Cantt. railway stations. However, the Vande Bharat Express will run regularly between Delhi Cantt. and Ajmer, while stopping at Jaipur, Gurgaon and Alwar from April 13th 2023.

Currently, Shatabdi Express is the fastest train that takes 6 hrs and 15 mins to travel from Delhi Cantt to Ajmer. But with 5 hours and 15 minutes from Ajmer to Delhi Cantt., this new Vande Bharat Express will travel the same route 60 minutes faster than the current fastest train. And this is a great achievement!
First To Operate On OHE
Ajmer-Delhi Cantt. Vande Bharat Express would be the first semi-high-speed passenger train ever to operate on overhead electric (OHE) lines. Pushkar, the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, and other popular tourist locations in Rajasthan will all have better connections and improved connectivity will also help the region’s socioeconomic development.
The Mainline Electric Multiple Unit train sets are the foundation of the Vande Bharat Express. For the past 25 years, MEMU technology has been produced at Integral Coach Manufacturing. A modified MEMU was constructed using Vande Bharat technology for suburban, commuter, and short-distance intercity services as a supplement to the long-distance Vande Bharat Express.
