First things first, getting to Lihou is part of the adventure. The island is accessible only via a rocky causeway from Guernsey. But there’s a catch: it can only be crossed during low tide. This means you’ve got quite a small window of opportunity to get to the island, and it’s only accessible about two weeks each month.

So, if you want to go, you’ll need to plan ahead. As soon as you make it across the causeway, you’ll find your own private paradise. Every corner at Lihou offers a chance to enjoy simplicity and solitude. The island only has one habitable house called the Lihou House. This property is managed by the Lihou Charitable Trust.

This house is far from your typical luxury getaway. Here, there’s no Wi-Fi, no phone signal, and definitely no distractions. But that’s what makes it so unique. If the idea of being off the grid excites you, this is the ultimate place to experience it. Plus, it’s surrounded by natural beauty and rich history. You can explore ancient priory ruins, take in the breathtaking views, and enjoy the Venus Pool, a natural formation that appears during low tide. Birdwatchers will also love Lihou, as the island is home to many species of migratory birds.

Lihou House has a simple yet comfortable layout. It has nine bedrooms, with enough space to accommodate up to 30 people. The house is fully self-sufficient, generating its own drinking water and electricity through a solar system. There’s no television or music system here. The ever-changing views, though, will keep you engaged because of the shifting tides, weather, and light.

The island feels even more secluded due to its remote location. Additionally, since the island lacks stores and facilities, you will need to pack everything you will need. The house is also very environmentally friendly, using gas for the kitchen and a diesel generator.

Lihou Island is perfect for those who are keen on getting away from the usual distractions and embracing nature. If you love hiking, birdwatching, and exploring historic sites, this could be your ideal getaway. For an authentic off-grid experience, it could be the perfect place to switch off and reconnect with nature.

For just £40 (₹4,388.83 approx.) per person (with a minimum of 10 people), you’ll experience the charm of one of the most unique and peaceful locations in the English Channel.
