The shooting for Kantara Chapter 1 has begun in Karnataka’s Kundapura. For the first phase of the shooting, they have set up a camp in Kundapura and it is massive, to say the least. The production team of the movie has constructed a custom-built indoor set. It is a 200×200 foot set that is said to be a marvel of technology and a filmmaker’s dreamland!

This sprawling set features air conditioning, a dubbing studio, and an editing suite as well. Basically, everything a film team can need is available inside this indoor set! This set is so massive that its grandeur is being compared to that of Ramoji Film City.

While all the outdoor scenes will be filmed in forests, the production team of Kantara Chapter 1 decided to shoot the indoor sequences against the coastal setting of Kundapura. They believe the natural beauty of the place will complement the narrative.

According to reports, 600 carpenters and technicians from Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad have been moved to Kundapura for the construction of the set. That’s not it, the stunt masters have relocated to Kundapura for the film shooting while the actors have started intense Kalaripayattu and horse riding training. And this is all happening under one roof at this set!

The film’s production house, Hombale Films, has called this infrastructure “a long-term asset.” They believe this permanent fixture can be “utilised for future projects” and even made “available for rent to other production houses.”

This sprawling set seems like a filmmaker’s dream! What is your take on it? Let us know in the comments!
