River Water Disappears In This Hidden Gem In Goa And It Is A Sight To Behold

Goa is famous for its beautiful beaches, scrumptious seafood, thrilling adventure sports and nightlife. Well, little did you know that the south part of this place, South Goa is home to a hidden gem which you add to your bucket list and tick off really soon. Salaulim Dam in south goa is one of the most marvellous monsoon destinations in Goa and here is why.

An Engineering Marvel

The Salaulim Dam in South Goa is located on the Zuari river tributary and is an important part of Goa’s irrigation system. Mid-monsoon around late July, the dam situated right in the middle of the reservoir surrounded by dense forests and botanical gardens overflows. The excess water spills straight into a 140-foot-deep canal, creating a unique spillway. The sight of the water gushing down is a sight to behold.  Flowing over a rim-like edge of the structure, mist hovers over the dam. The Salaulim dam is one of the smallest dams in India but its Duckbill Spillway sets it different from others. The Spillway is a total engineering marvel which looks like a sinkhole in the middle of the river.
