The police force has to fulfil special duties during festivals or when political leaders visit a city or event. During these times, they do not get proper food or tea breaks and they still have to continue with their postings. Sangrur police took this matter into consideration and launched a special initiative called ‘Food On Wheels’. This unique initiative will serve all the police staff who are posted on special duties.
‘Food On Wheels’ By Sangrur Police
‘Food On Wheels’ is a special kitchen created in a modified van by the police. This food van will serve hot and fresh food, tea, as well as water to all the police who are working on their special duty. This will benefit many senior officers and police personnel especially the ones who are posted on VIP duties or protest sites.
One of the cops thanked the seniors for coming up with this. He also said that the cops will surely work hard to maintain law and order if they get food on time. Mandeep Sidhu, SSP Sangrur, who with the help of other seniors launched this initiative, said that this is a first-of-its-kind initiative in Punjab. He hopes to implement this concept in other districts as well for the betterment of the police force.

Problems Faced By Cops
Sangrur is the home of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and has been witnessing repeated protests. The local residence of the Chief Minister has seen repeated protests ever since the formation of the AAP government. They are protesting for their long pending demands. In the recent protest of farmers which lasted for 21 days, the majority of the cops could not have their food on time. Despite this, they had to work and keep the situation under control.
Looking at these incidents, the seniors including SSP Sindhu came up with this ‘Food On Wheels’ van. The van has four stations and offers all the required facilities.
