Haven’t we all seen many documentaries and news pieces about children and people going hungry around the world? Well, such news pieces often make us want to do something in order to avoid food waste at large. And it seems that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also agrees with this ideology. After all, they have rolled out a new architectural, operational, and environmental set of regulations. These pertain to mandatory requirements for partnering with certified food waste prevention organisations, and we are here to tell you all about it.
Wedding Venues To Partner With Food Waste Prevention Organisations
Wedding banquets often lead to a lot of food wastage around the world. And to curtail this, Saudi Arabia has rolled out a slew of regulations. These are especially for wedding and event venues, which now makes it mandatory for them to partner with certified food waste prevention organisations. As revealed in a report by the Khaleej Times, this has been issued by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing with the aim of reducing food waste. Another aim of this is to ensure that such venues meet the national standards when it comes to safety, sustainability and design.
So, under the new guidelines, venues must now have formal agreements with such organisations. The main motive of such groups is to ensure that surplus food is safely packed and then distributed amongst the less fortunate. Not to mention, they sometimes even ensure that food gets properly recycled.

More About These Regulations
Not only this, the regulation also states that event venues must have essential amenities, such as gender specific restrooms. They must also have gender specific service rooms with bathrooms and even a designated reception and admin area. Not only this, they can also have optional features such as hospitality, lounges, underground parking, and children’s play zones. These guidelines also extend to accessibility & safety and transparency & compliance, along with operational standards & surveillance and monitoring. So, basically, it covers different aspects of the event that is being organised at the venue to ensure proper rules and regulations are in place in order to avoid any complications.
With such important rules in place, there can be little to no room for food-based, and who knows that the surplus food left at your event might just make its way to someone in dire need of the same
