The Lunar New Year has already begun and the festivities will continue for 15 days. And this year has been regarded as the Year of the Dragon. In case you’re wondering, according to the Chinese Zodiac, each year honours an animal, and there is a circle of 12 animals. However, if you have to fly with Emirates, then you are not going to miss out on facilities. We say this because Emirates is doing something special for customers flying with them during the Chinese New Year.

Emirates Celebrates Lunar New Year With Traditional Dishes

Celebrating the Year of the Dragon, Emirates lounges in Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, Bangkok, and Dubai are serving a special curated menu. Not to mention, customers can also enjoy traditional red envelopes that are shared in flight along with blockbuster movies in Mandarin and Cantonese.

On select routes, they will be able to enjoy the Lunar New Year dessert, which is a Red Velvet Lychee Cake in the First and Business Class, and a Red Velvet Lychee Mousse in Economic Class. Moreover, the customers in First and Business Class will receive a traditional Red Envelope, which will be filled with chocolate coins to signify good luck.

What Can Expect For Food?

Celebrations in the Emirates Lounges will start with breakfast for the First and Business Classes. Yes, these will feature Cheung Fun, a steamed rice noodle roll stuffed with dried prawns and scallops. While for lunch and dinner time, First Class lounge customers can dive into their Cantonese Roast Duck Bao with Plum Sauce.

However, First and Business class lounge guests can feast on delicious Poached Shrimp & Vegetable Dumplings with Soy & Vinegar Dip, or Pan-seared Chilean Seabass with XO Sauce and Pak Choy, or Chinese Rainbow Salad with Smoked Salmon, Sesame & Soya Ginger Dressing. They are also serving desserts which include sweet and light Mango Coconut Cake with spices or Black Tea Cake in the First Class lounge. While tangy Yuzu Tartlet with Green Tea Powder is being served in the Business Class lounge.

Select Lounges Are Serving Delicious Dishes

Lounges at select locations are doing something special for the travellers. Take a look –

  • As it happens, Emirates Lounge in Singapore is serving Chinese Chicken Sausage with Lotus Leaf & Rice, along with other main course dishes. These include Stir Fried Prawn with Green Asparagus, while they also serve delicious desserts like Pineapple Upside-Down Cake with Mango Boba.
  • Their lounge in Bangkok serves Beef Sweet & Sour Succulent Tender Beef with Sweet & Tangy Flavours, or Chicken Rice Hainan – Hainanese Chicken seasoned with a blend of ginger, garlic and sauce. They are also offering desserts, like Orange Mousse Bake.
  • In Beijing, they are offering Gongbao Prawn with cashew nuts. This is followed by Eight Treasure Rice Pudding.
  • In Shanghai, the Lunar New Year will be celebrated with Sweet & Sour Mandarin Fish or Wok-Fried Beef Strips with mixed pepper. And Red Velvet Cake is being served as dessert.

So, when you are in-flight, do get in with a holiday spirit as you get to watch 21 Mandarin and 12 Cantonese movies, which include popular names like the ‘Day Off’ and ‘Lighting Up The Stars’.
