An Air Mauritius flight from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport or CSMIA in Mumbai was recently grounded. As per reports, the passengers had already boarded the flight. However, some hitch was reported in the engine of the plane and hence, the flight was delayed. The passengers were not allowed to disembark the plane and many suffered breathing problems because the air conditioning was not working. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this particular flight.

According to an article which was recently published by The Free Press Journal or the FPJ, the incident took place during the wee hours of February 24. The flight, which was supposed to head to Mauritius from Mumbai, was numbered MK749.

As per the FPJ article, the passengers began boarding at 3:45 AM and the flight was supposed to depart at 4:30 AM. However, owing to some hitch in the engine of the plane, the flight remained grounded for more than five hours.

To make matters worse, the air conditioning of the plane was also not working. Hence, the passengers were trapped in the plane in extreme discomfort. Owing to this, several infants who were on board as well as one elderly man developed breathing difficulties.

As per the FPJ article, the man’s name is Banudutt Boolauky and he is 78 years old. As per a passenger’s statement cited in the article, the man lay down at the back of the plane owing to breathing issues.

It also went on to mention that the flight was eventually cancelled and other necessary arrangements were being made. The airline has not commented on the situation as of yet.
