Sheikha Mozah Becomes First Emirati Woman Pilot To Fly AW609 Tiltrotor

Tiltrotor aircraft are valuable and important since they can take off or land like a chopper while flying at a high speed like an aeroplane. They mark a new subsonic air travel category for both military and civil aviation. Sheikha Mozah bint Marwan Al Maktoum becomes the first female pilot of the AW609 tiltrotor aircraft. This one-hour flight was a watershed moment for female pilots in the civil aviation industry.

Who Is Sheikha Mozah?

Sheikha Mozah is the only female pilot in the Dubai royal family. She was fortunate to pilot the plane recently on her visit to Leonardo’s US helicopter headquarters in Philadelphia. Sheikha Mozah stated she knew she wanted to be a pilot the moment she stepped into the cockpit of an aeroplane at the age of 12. Sheikha has established various aviation records in her career.

She was the youngest student enrolled at Oxford Aviation Academy in England when she was 17 years old. She became the first officer with Emirates in 2015 after gaining Boeing 777 certification. Later it was impossible to stop her from spreading her wings. She then flew her maiden passenger trip from Dubai to Amman, Jordan. In 2019, she also served as the first lieutenant pilot in the Dubai Police Air Wing.

The tiltrotor, according to Sheikha Mozah, is pilot-friendly and incredible to fly. Until she peered out the windows at the massive rotors, she forgot what kind of jet she was in command of.

For its first flight outside of Europe and the United States, the plane was carefully transported from Italy to Dubai.

Sheikha Mozah has a highly qualified aviation career. She has been a Boeing 777 captain with Emirates and a certified pilot of Leonardo’s AW139 tiltrotor. This made her perfectly suited to fly the tiltrotor, according to AW609 tiltrotor manufacturer Leonardo.
