The biggest brand under Booking Holdings, Booking.com, announced that it is adding a cruise section to its website in order to capitalise on the growing popularity of cruises among American consumers. Cruise companies anticipate record bookings in 2024, partly because of the growing number of first-time cruisers and the trend of consumers looking for less expensive travel options. Online travel agencies are attempting to develop into one-stop shops for travellers making trip arrangements.

As per the company, Booking.com is partnering with World Travel Holdings, a private cruise travel operator, to create the cruise travel vertical. According to a statement from the company, the new service satisfies consumer demand in the largest cruise booking market in the world, which accounts for 58 per cent of the total market.

As per a July report from the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), Millennial travellers are more eager than ever to go on their maiden cruise. According to the association, 73 per cent of people who had never taken a cruise stated they would think about doing so in the future. A 2022 CLIA study found that almost 85 per cent of those who had cruised will do so again, a 6 per cent rise from pre-pandemic seasons.
