According to the Uttar Pradesh government, the state will soon have more than 20 operational airports, including five international airports. Uttar Pradesh now has a lot of airports.

Suresh Khanna, the state’s finance minister, stated in his speech that marvellous work has been done in the field of civil aviation during the Yogi government’s tenure. He also shared that there are currently 80 destinations served by air service from the state’s nine operational airports. He added that the state currently has three operational international airports and that airports for other countries are being built in Jewar and Ayodhya. 

The minister also stated that four airports have been built during the Yogi government’s tenure. There is ongoing development on the remaining six airports in Azamgarh, Moradabad, Aligarh, Shravasti, Sonbhadra, and Chitrakoot.

The finance minister of Uttar Pradesh shared plans for the upcoming years in his speech. He mentioned the plans about establishing five international and sixteen domestic airports in the state. Once these airports open for business, it will bring the total number of airports in the state to 21. The government is trying to make flying accessible to all.

UP Finance Miniter Shed Light On Transportation Plans

The minister’s speech also included details about other transportation means. Improved rail and ropeway connectivity in the state received special consideration in the Yogi Adityanath government’s annual budget for the fiscal year 2023–2024. The government’s budget for 2023–24, which allocates more than 2500 crores for the development of metro rail service in the four major cities of Uttar Pradesh, also prioritises the construction of India’s first ropeway project for public transportation in Varanasi.

A special focus has also been placed on the development of infrastructure facilities in all of the state’s development authorities, including Lucknow and urban areas.

The development of ropeway service in Varanasi and other cities is proposed under this, with a budget of ₹ 150 crore. A budget allocation of ₹ 585 crore has been made for the Kanpur Metro Rail Project for the fiscal year 2023–2024.
