I Stayed On A Cliff In Fort Tiracol Heritage Hotel In Goa Overlooking The Arabian Sea

If you have ever fancied staying on a cliff, you will be scrambling to book your stay at Fort Tiracol Heritage Hotel in Goa. The heritage property sits on the literal side of a cliff overlooking the Arabian Sea. The former Portuguese fortress easily has the best location in Goa at the mouth of the Tiracol River. The experience offers unparalleled views of the Tiracol River meets Arabian Sea. I have experienced it first hand and trust me, it is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed in Goa. If you are lucky, you could also spot dolphins jumping around on the horizon. Now, doesn’t that sound exciting?

The Heritage Property Was Once A Portuguese Fortress

Secluded from the bustle of the city and peacefully perched on the northernmost tip of Goa is Fort Tiracol. Once an armed fortress that belonged to the Portuguese, it is now an idyllic hideaway for the discerning traveller. Only if I could stay here forever. It Has Only 7 Stunning Rooms Overlooking The Arabian Sea

I left behind the city life in Mumbai and got transported to this 17th century Goa with uninterrupted views of the Arabian Sea and the stunning Tiracol river. This wildly atmospheric property has only seven quiet and charmingly designed rooms & suites with views of the Arabian Sea.

Fond of poster beds? You will find it here. I was lucky to stay in the luxury suite of this property and the views from the window was unmatched.

An Old Goan Church Is Squeezed In The Courtyard

Another highlight of the property is the old Goan church in the courtyard. I drove straight to the property but if you come by the roads behind the Querim Beach, you will get to cross the river on the flatbed ferry before actually driving to the hotel through the village. There are also incredible views from the ramparts, which again is one of Goa’s oldest churches.

What’s more, the beautiful villages around dot the landscape and I could witness a glorious sunset from the lovely restaurant at the terrace. An Old Goan Home Has Been Converted Into A Hotel & It’s Every Traveler’s Dream.

An Alfresco Dining Space On The Terrace

If you are looking to dine out, The Tavern: Terrace Café, at this heritage property can offer you with the most romantic experience. However, be sure to call in advance and book a table for two overlooking the sea and you are set. Even during the pandemic, the space filled up quickly while I was there. So, you can only imagine the rush at this place. This alfresco space on the terrace of the fort had sweeping views of the river and the ocean.

The menu is limited, but be it their Spaghetti with clams, or their omelettes for breakfast, you will never leave disappointed from here. I would also recommend you to try the Goan Prawn Curry here.
