Meghalaya Is Ready To Host The Strawberry Festival
The departments of Meghalaya Tourism and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare have come together to conduct this one-of-a-kind event starting soon. Strawberry Festival will begin on April 5 and will continue till April 13. According to a report by News on AIR, the primary goal of organising it is to boost about juicy strawberries of this state and let more and more people know about it.
Meghalaya is home to breathtaking natural beauty. Be it witnessing picturesque landscapes, exploring scenic locations, or enjoying vibrant culture, this state offers some of the best travel experiences. Apart from these, strawberries are also famous in this state and often attract visitors as well.
The Strawberry Festival will be the perfect opportunity to witness its cultivation, know a lot about this fruit, and more. This will be a fantastic initiative to elevate people’s perspective about agro-tourism. Also, it will likely influence farmers to take up strawberry cultivation. As a part of different central and state programmes, the Directorate of Horticulture has planted strawberry plants in large numbers, according to a report by Nagaland Post.
What All Can Visitors Expect To See At This Event?
One of the biggest highlights is the location. According to the official statement, the Strawberry Festival will be organised at the strawberry fields in several villages of Ri Bhoi’s Umktieh and Sohliya; West Garo Hills’ Baladinggre, Darechikgre, and Durakantragre; and East Khasi Hills’ Syntung and Nohron.
There will be lots of fun events and programmes arranged at the Strawberry Festival. From live music to cultural programmes and from strawberry picking to wine tasting, there are too many amazing experiences to enjoy here. Visitors can even buy strawberry saplings from here.
