Shramik Mahila Vikas Sangh, an eatery started by a 99-year-old local school teacher, Indumathy Barve and her three partners helps needy women of Vasai to become Atmanirbhar & Confident. Started in the year 1991, this eatery has generated employment opportunities for 180 women working across their 7 branches coming from all caste and religions. What started as a need-based job for many ladies working here has now become their happiness and integral part of their lives. From flexible working hours to retirement benefits, from celebrating traditional festivals to going on the picnic, women here fight, they work, they laugh, they are not just coworkers, they are sisters.
