The July-September issue of Apollo Medicine consists of an important study that sheds light on the importance of Vitamin D and its related health benefits. There is a negative connection between Vitamin D levels in the human body and HbA1c and the study results are primarily focused on patients suffering from Type 2 diabetes. The inverse relationship shows that better Vitamin D levels contribute to improved blood sugar levels and maintain control of it too.

In conversation with Medical Dialogues, Dr. Rinki Kumari, Institute of Medical Sciences’s Department of Advanced Centre for Traditional and Genomic Medicine shared the interesting fact of creating a correlation between HbA1c and increased levels of Vitamin D.

163 patients with Type 2 diabetes and 174 individuals not suffering from this diabetes disease participated in this recent study. The team behind the research used radioimmunoassay and high-performance liquid chromatography to find out and understand the much-needed insights. The results clarify improved vitamin D levels’ advantage and a positive impact on health and taking care of diabetes.
