Sunday Brunch: Shefali Shah Opens About Her Love For Food, Solo Travelling & More

From playing a fearless cop in Delhi Crime to being the most relatable character in the movie Dil Dhadakne Do, Shefali Shah is one actor whose versatility can never be questioned! And on the latest episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani sat down with this talented actress and spoke about life, marriage, solo travelling, and of course, food, over some delicious seafood. Here’s how it went down.

Delicious Sunday Brunch With Shefali Shah

For this Sunday Brunch, we met Shefali Shah at Mumbai’s most iconic seafood restaurant, Gajalee. A true foodie at heart, she revealed that she loves her fish and since she is the only non-vegetarian in her family, she doesn’t cook or bring non-vegetarian food home.

A Mumbai girl at heart, Shefali Shah talked about her mixed heritage and how she married into a Kutchi family, making her appreciate the flavours of each place. We asked her about how people these days have started feeling guilty about enjoying the food they love and she said, “I think I felt guilty for a very long time and then I decided, no, it’s not worth it. You HAVE to enjoy your food. I love my food!”

Of course, we had to ask Shefali about the iconic stress-eating scene from Dil Dhadakne Do. “So many women came to me after that and said, “Oh, God, that’s us”, which is heartbreaking. It’s good to know that people identify with it and it was a powerful moment,” she shared, further. She also spoke about how the character’s husband almost bullied her because of her weight in the movie.

In a post on Instagram, Shefali Shah spoke about her love for solo travelling and we couldn’t help but ask her more about it. “Vipul (her husband) is working, the boys are working, I am working. So, I look forward to these trips. Holidays have always been about going with someone, either with family or friends. A cancelled holiday to Rishikesh made me think why am I waiting for someone? I went alone and I am so glad that it happened, and it was amazing,” she shared with a big smile.
