With people in positions of power blaming even Chowmein behind assault and violence against women, here comes another shocking incident of sexual harassment and its response from Bengaluru.
What Is It?
Having ordered food from Swiggy, a food delivery app, like many of its customers, this Bengaluru woman had to go through a harrowing experience of abuse. She accused the food delivery boy of seeking sexual favours, as reported by The Times Of India.
What is more shocking is Swiggy’s response to the complaint made by the woman at their customer care service. All she received was an apology note and a Rs 200 coupon!
The woman had to take to social media to narrate her ordeal and the unfair treatment meted out to her by Swiggy.
“Customer safety is of utmost importance to us at Swiggy, and we maintain zero tolerance towards any misbehavior. It is our onus to ensure our service remains top-notch & care painstakingly while bringing delivery partners on board. It wasn’t our intention to make this go away with the compensation offered & regret that it was construed this way. We have extended our full support to the investigation and the matter has been resolved with all parties involved,” a Swiggy spokesperson said in a statement to Curly Tales.
We hope that the cases of sexual harassment are dealt with necessary and relevant legal action and measures are taken to prevent it in the first place.
