If you’re a remote worker, then we have some good news for you! Taiwan has become the latest country to launch a digital nomad visa for remote workers. To invite talented individuals who can boost the economy of the country, Taiwan has launched a digital nomad visa. According to Time Now, this new visa will allow remote workers to travel and stay in the country for three months, initially. They can later extend their stay for another three months. The digital nomad visa will allow people to visit destinations like Hualien, Taitung, Tainan, and Pingtung in Taiwan.

This visa will help them streamline the process of obtaining permanent residence in the country as well. According to reports, Taiwan is currently experiencing a workforce crisis. They wish to attract 4 lakh people by 2032 with this new visa facility. Out of them, 10,000 people will be given a chance to obtain the ‘employment golden card’ afterwards.

Here’s All You Need To Know About This Visa

So, who is eligible to apply for Taiwan’s digital nomad visa? Only nationals from visa-exempt countries for Taiwan are eligible for the digital nomad visitor visa.

Taiwan digital nomad visa requirements (applicant must meet at least one) –

1. If the applicant is 30 years or older, they will have to present proof of earning an annual salary of at least $60,000 (₹51,47,453) in one of the last two years.
2. If the applicant is aged between 20 and 29, they will have to present proof of an annual income of $24,000 (₹20,58,981) in one of the last two years.
3. If the applicant has obtained a digital nomad visa issued by another country.

Applicants are also required to present proof of remote work experience, along with bank deposits over the last six months, international health insurance, and other documents specified in the application. You can head here to apply for this visa.

The best part is that Taiwan has also collaborated with Japan’s Osaka and Fukuoka, and South Korea to complement existing visas. This will allow travellers to extend their stay in other East Asian destinations after their time in Taiwan. How cool is that?
