What Is It?

Jaisalmer Fort, locally known as the ‘Sonari Quilla‘ is one of the very few ‘living forts’ in the world that is home to around one-fourth of the population of the city.

It is the second oldest fort in Rajasthan which was built in 1156 AD by the Rajput ruler, Jaisal and has been declared a World heritage site by UNESCO.

What’s In It?

Inside Jaisalmer Fort, there are 7 Jain temples built by yellow sandstone during 12th-16th century. The fort is a tawny yellow colour during the day and fades into honey-gold during sunset. It beautifully camouflages with the gold of the Thar desert sand.
