During a candid chat on the buggy ride with Kamiya Jani, our Editor-in-Chief, Tejasswi shares how she started her career in the TV industry and how she spent her first paycheck.
How Much Was Tejasswi Prakash Paid In Her First Show?
Tejasswi Prakash completed her engineering degree and also participated in ‘Bombay Times Fresh Face.’ She won that competition when she was just 17 years old. Talk about being talented! After the win, her face was all over the newspapers. So when she suddenly got a call for a show’s audition, her reaction was, “Daily soap? I don’t even watch them.” But her mom was curious and encouraged her to try it first. So, very casually, she gave the audition. When she got selected, she wondered, “Okay, it just goes serious now. Maine to aesehi aake audition diya tha. Yeah, it’s been going on since then, and it’s been great.”
When Kamiya asks the actress if she remembers her first paycheck, Tejasswi exclaims, “Oh my god! So in industry, actors get paid on a per-day basis. Now, I was not very sure if I wanted to do acting or study as I had college. They said my per day will be ₹8000, and you will be shooting almost every day in a month.” Tejasswi Prakash went berserk and thought these people were crazy for giving her so much money for a day. The celebrity was excited about making more pocket money than any of her friends during that time. Imagine how much that makes in a month if she shoots all 30 days!
Actress Father Felling On Her Acting Career
Tejasswi’s parents were a little apprehensive about her career in the entertainment industry. Her mother even used to accompany her to the shoots of the first few shows that she did. Even now, her father feels like this is all just a hobby. He thinks she’ll finish this and then continue to study Master’s degree in the USA.
