Telangana is urging people to adopt solar energy in a bid to reduce its carbon footprint. Read on how.
What Is It?
Karim Nagar in Telangana has made the installation of solar panels on the roofs of all houses, apartments, complexes and establishments, mandatory in case of the area exceeding 2700 square feet.
Permission for construction will not be given if these requirements are not complied with. It is being followed strictly since March 1, 2019. In fact, Karim Nagar Officials have claimed that they are the first Municipal Corporation to impose this guideline in the country!
What’s In It?
To encourage the adoption of solar panel energy usage, 30% subsidy will be given by the state for installation procedures. This is to be achieved with the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO).
The objective is to reduce fossil fuel releases and replace it with a sustainable mode of living and encouraging as many people as possible to adapt to this change which is also a part of Karimnagar smart city project.
