Ankush Bahuguna, one of the first Indian male influencers to make videos on makeup, beauty, and fashion, is a trailblazer in his field. With every video, he deals with trolls head-on and spreads the message that “Makeup and fashion is for everyone, irrespective of gender”. In the latest episode of Tere Gully Mein, we joined him on a food trail in his childhood neighbourhood, Mayur Vihar Phase 1 in Delhi and talked about his journey, shared a few childhood anecdotes, and more. Here’s how it went down.
Ankush Bahuguna Talks About Journey As Beauty Influencer, Trolls & More

He might have shifted base to Mumbai, but Ankush Bahuguna is a Delhi boy through and through. He has spent his entire childhood in Mayur Vihar and was happy to take us around a food trail there. Before we started our food journey, we asked Ankush about his journey as a makeup influencer. He shared that because of his job, he saw a lot of makeup artists and even wrote about their work.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, he made a lot of videos with his mother and tried doing her makeup. He admitted that his mother wasn’t into makeup too much and he tried whatever he had learnt at work on her. The mother-son duo enjoyed the whole process and that’s how the journey started!
In a society where makeup is considered a “women’s thing”, his journey as a makeup and fashion influencer hasn’t been easy. If you’ve seen Ankush Bahuguna’s Instagram page, then you already know how he deals with all the trolls that come his way. “I am very connected with my audience. I see all the negative comments and even reply to them. Kabhi kabhi toh main ek-ek paragraphs ke replies bhi deta hun! But I realised they were not here for a conversation. But, yes, I do read almost everything.”
We couldn’t help but ask how his friendships with fellow creators Dolly Singh, Kusha Kapila, Shibani Bedi, and Komal Pandey started. He shared that they all go way back and their friendship started when they were all working in the same office.
A Delicious Food Trail Around Mayur Vihar Phase 1
Ankush Bahuguna started our food trail with samosa from Hathras Sweets in Mayur Vihar, Delhi. He shared that the place has not changed at all over the years and is his favourite samosa shop! While we were waiting for our samosas to arrive, Ankush shared, “Mera spice tolerance bahut kaam hai. Main na samosa ka sirf cover khaata hun!”
We next stopped for gol gappas at Bansal Sweets, which is Ankush’s go-to spot for gol gappas. We then stopped by the iconic Lucky Juice & Shakes and tried an Oreo Shake and Chiku Shake. The final destination of our food trail was the famous street stall for Ram laddoos at Prem Pakodas. Safe to say, Mayur Vihar deserves more recognition for its street food!
