The 4-Lane Bridge On Versova Creek Is Now Open; Nitin Gadkari & Others Share Pics & Videos

The newly-constructed four-lane bridge across the Versova creek in Mumbai is thrown open to the public now. The 918-metre-long balanced cantilever bridge will solve the traffic woes on the Mumbai-Surat corridor. The Union minister of road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari, shared the news on his official Twitter account on Monday. He and many others shared the first pictures and videos of the newly opened bridge on Twitter, take a look.

4-Lane Bridge On Versova Creek Now Open

The 4-lane bridge across the Versova Creek on the Mumbai-Surat corridor was built at a cost of ₹247 crore. Currently, National Highway 8 has two bridges on either side near Ghodbunder and the Versova bridge.

One of these bridges was in a completely bad condition and was thrown open to the general public in 2013–14. This time it came with a 15-tonne maximum load restriction.

The National Highways Authority of India began building a second, four-lane Versova bridge in 2018 due to the heavy traffic between Mumbai and Surat.

The 2.25-kilometre-long project began on the NH-8 side closest to Surat. The balanced cantilever bridge measures 917.875 metres in length, and both approaches are 1.33 kilometres long. (As reported by the Hindustan Times.).

Versova Beach Makeover

One of Mumbai’s best-known beaches is Versova Beach. This stunning beach in Andheri will shortly undergo a significant renovation. This will cost approximately ₹17 crore, and the harbour section of the Public Works Department is ready for it.

The Mumbai suburban District Planning and Development Committee (DPDC) has at last given the PWD clearance. PWD published a tender last week for the construction of a jogging track, tree planting, and bench installation on the shore. The place will also have a I love Versova selfie point.
