The central government is considering giving a separate incentive to the youth who is being recruited under the Agneepath scheme. To all those who are wondering what is Agneepath scheme, it is a new scheme introduced by the Government of India on 14 June 2022, for the recruitment of soldiers below the rank of commissioned officers into the three services of the armed forces. Under this scheme, if any Agniveer gets any kind of disability during the four years of service he is eligible to get full pay for the rest of the month. He is even eligible to receive ₹11.75 lakhs under the Seva Nidhi scheme.

According to an article of news18, the defense sources have revealed that in the recent meetings of all the army officers it has been discussed that the present benefits might be insufficient for such fighters who want to but are unable to serve the army because of the disability.

Are The Out-of-board Officers Still Eligible?

No, trainee officers who are out of board due to disability during military training are not currently eligible for pension. This is because their service period starts only after getting a commission at the end of their training period. Last year, the Armed Forces had come up with a new proposal for pension to officers who became disabled during training, but no further progress was made on this.

However, any kind of disability suffered by the Agniveers during the training makes them eligible to get the disability pension according to the percentage of disability suffered. This is a separate pension from the regular one.
