Also known as “Buransh” in the local language, Himachal’s state tree Rhododendron attracts tourists across India during the month of March. The flowers have bloomed early this year due to climate change. Rhododendrons have not just a striking red hue but also a lovely floral taste. Chomp on the flowers and you’d be pleasantly surprised by their tangy, flowery taste. You’d find the red-coloured flowers in the high altitudinal range of 2800 to 4000 metres on higher alpine moorlands, as the flowers need a temperate of 15 to 20°C to bloom.
