100-Year-Old Chateau Garli Was Inspired By Different Architectural Styles
The Chateau Garli was built in 1921 by Lala Mela Ram Sud. The Suds were a well-travelled mercantile community that drew architectural inspiration for the mansion from Portuguese, Mughal, Colonial, Kangri and Rajasthani styles. Set in the village of Garli, this mansion fell into a state of despair for nearly 20 years, as it was left unvisited. But in 2012, Lala Mela Ram Sud’s great-grandson, Amish Sud and grandson, Yatish C. Sud restored the mansion. Today, it’s one of the only mansions that is restored to its former glory in Garli and also hosts visitors.
