There are baby boomers, Gen-Z, millennials, and now the latest buzzword to adorn the internet is ‘geriatric millennials. If you’re like me, scratching your head and wondering what is what, then you’re not alone. Let’s break it down for you and help you understand, which category you fit into. So, the most commonly used word, ‘millennials are people born between 1981-1996. Baby boomers are those born between 1846-1964. Generation X are individuals born between 1965-1980. And finally, Gen-Z, are the newest generation, born between 1997-2015. Now, that we’ve elaborated your vocabulary, a new subgroup, “geriatric millennial’ is taking over the internet. Who Are Geriatric Millennials?

The word “geriatric millennial” was first coined in a Medium article titled ‘Why the Hybrid Workforce of the Future Depends on the ‘Geriatric Millennial’. The article categories geriatric millennial as the people born between 1980 and 1985. They are the early millennials. The article reveals that this generation of people are comfortable using technology, despite the fact that they are not as tech-savvy as the younger millennials. Geriatric millennial are quite comfortable using both analog and digital forms of communication. After all, they are the first generation to witness the transformation of technology and grow up with a PC. Whether it’s writing letters, speaking on the telephone, clicking away on the laptop or tapping into mobile phones, they are well-informed and savvy with all these forms of communication.
