Saudi Arabia is NEOM and Qiddiya often unveils fantastic projects that are absolutely futuristic. And recently, keeping up with its slew of new projects, it revealed The Rig. An oil-rig-inspired mega entertainment project, it’s going to be built off the country’s eastern coast. Here’s all you need to know about the upcoming mega project.

The Rig To Come Up In Saudi Arabia

The Rig, as mentioned previously, is an oil-inspired entertainment project that will be coming off on the eastern coast of the country. It will be located about 40 km from the shore near Al Juraid Island and the Berri oilfield. Spanning 30 hectares, it’s double of what was originally announced in October 2021. As it happens, this offshore tourism project is funded by the Public Investment Fund, which has previously garnered attention for its unique themes.

It’s Going To Feature Three Hotels

It’s worth noting that three hotels with a total of 800 rooms will be open here. Along with this, 11 restaurants, a marina and helipads will also be situated here. In fact, those who like to indulge in extreme sports and adventure parks will also be in for a treat, as it will feature a variety of water activities. Yes, these will include everything from a diving centre to even an esports centre.

The Opening Date Has Not Yet Been Revealed

At this point, it’s worth noting that even though the opening date has not yet been announced, it is expected that once it opens, it is going to attract loads of people. Yes, it is estimated that 900,000 annual visitors might be coming in, by 2032!
