These Indian Cities Are Soon To Be Hit By Cold Wave With Dense Fog

Winter is finally here in India, though a little late. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued a “cold wave” warning in the country. The warning informed people about the dense or very dense fog that many places in the country might witness. Many cities, particularly those in northern India, may experience cold weather over the next five days. Here are the detail:

Cold Wave With Dense Fog

New Delhi and many parts of northern India have already been experiencing a numbing cold for a day or two. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning about cold wave conditions that will prevail in the country for the next few days. The maximum temperature in the capital will be 19 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be 4 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana also saw a dip since the past few days, which will continue for the next few days. The minimum temperature may rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius toward northwest India. Many places in Punjab and a few in Chandigarh and Haryana might be covered with dense or very dense fog.

Rains Too Might Make A Visit

Some parts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh may also experience foggy conditions until December 27th. The cold wave will prevail in the cities and small pockets of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand as well. It is likely that the cold wave might also hit and stay in some regions of Saurashtra and Kutch for the next few days.

The temperatures in Kashmir are already slipping below the freezing point and are expected to dip further. Rainfall of light to moderate intensity is expected in south Kerala and the south coastal region of Tamil Nadu. Many isolated regions here might also face heavy rainfall. The depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka’s coast has moved southwestward, causing rainfall in these regions.
