Many people prefer ordering foods online to deliver at their doorsteps and enjoy them in the comfort of their homes. And the instant delivery services are the biggest help during such times. Swiggy Instamart, Swiggy’s grocery delivery service is one of the most popular delivery services in India and they started competing in the market just 2 years back. The food aggregator company witnessed a massive response in orders in this short span of time.

Swiggy Instamart has almost 9 million lifetime customers in over 25 cities. They saw a tremendous growth of 16 times in order numbers between June 2021 and June 2022. They announced the great news in a press release recently. According to reports, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Hyderabad placed way more orders in the last 1 year than the entire population of Canada. Among these Indian cities, Bengaluru ranks at the top with the highest number of deliveries, especially in the early morning. Delhi and Chennai placed humongous orders as well. And in the non-metro cities; Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Ahmedabad placed the most orders.

These Items Were Ordered The Most!

Swiggy Instamart noticed the most demand in orders for some specific items. Metro Indian cities such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai saw the most orders for sanitary napkins, napkins, and menstrual cups. These distress items were ordered to almost 2 million in numbers. Swiggy Instamart also delivered over 50 million eggs and more than 30 million orders for milk in the past 2 years. Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai placed 6 million eggs each on average in the last year. The company received almost 62,000 tons of fruits and vegetables in the last 2 years.

They received orders for more than 5.6 million packets of instant noodles in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai in the last year. They also saw a spike in ordering first-aid items. They delivered about 45,000 boxes of band-aids. In fact, they saw an increase in the online orders of condoms as well. It surged by 570 times the last year in comparison to the year before. Swiggy Instamart also stated that the orders for ice cream increased as well by 42% from April to June 2022.
