This 4-Storey House Atop A 40 Feet High Mango Tree Is Udaipur’s Latest Attraction

The next time you travel to the ‘City of Lakes’ in Rajasthan, you can visit this unique 4-storey house that lies atop a 40 feet high mango tree. The treehouse located in Chitrakoot, Udaipur belongs to Kul Pradeep Singh, an engineer who believes in protecting the environment too. Trees are usually being cut down to construct buildings which, in turn, lead to deforestation. Singh thus decided to build his house right atop the tree, which is around 80 years old. The house has all the modern amenities like kitchen, dining hall, bedroom, bathroom and also a library, all constructed keeping in mind the anatomy of the tree. For example, he repurposed the branches of the tree, using them as TV stand, sofa and more.

No Cement Was Used In The Construction Of This Tree House

The treehouse is scientifically modelled to cater to every weather condition. It is surrounded by four pillars, one of which as an electrical conductor and can prevent lighting from damaging the treehouse during monsoons. Also, unlike other buildings, no cement was used while building this treehouse. Instead, steel, cellulose sheets and fibers were employed in the construction. The walls comprise large holes to draw in enough sunlight and also allow the branches to grow. From fans and lights to a fridge, the treehouse has everything needed for a comfortable living. It is built from a height of 9 feet above the ground surface.

The place where Singh built his treehouse used to be known as Kunjaro ki baadi. It was home to around 4000 trees which were cut down for residential purposes. Singh did not want to cut down the mango tree. And relocating the tree would involve huge expenses. So, he built his house on the tree itself.
