Dry fruits are a form of dehydrated fruits. Dry fruits are just not used for diet plans but it’s a tradition in India to offer a couple of Dry fruits to every other guest.  Purchasing dry fruits is often costly, especially in India, where most of the population is middle-income, as dried fruits are considered high-end foods. Also, since it is dried fruit, it is necessary to store it properly so as not to waste food and money. Use Airtight Containers

  • Instead of just casually wrapping the dry fruit packets and storing them, use airtight containers. As an alternative, you can also use plastic zip lock bags or vacuum jars.
  • Because some dried fruits are treated with sulfur and used as preservatives. Sulfur often reacts with metals, which change the color of dried fruits. Therefore, such dried fruits and nuts should be properly packed in a plastic zip lock bag before being transferred to a metal container.
  • Make sure the container you choose to store the dried fruits is transparent. This transparency helps to see the build-up of moisture and insects on the inner walls of the container.

Store Dry fruits at a right temperature

  • Never store the dry fruits in your kitchen, store them in a cool place. Dry fruits can quickly become rancid if stored in direct sunlight.
  • You can store the dry fruits in the refrigerator to keep them cool in case the outside weather is very hot and rainy. However, if you store dry fruits in the refrigerator, be sure to use a zip lock freezer bag.
  • Try setting up a separate section or shelf for storing dried fruits. When stored with other foods, they are infused with a strong flavor and affect the taste and aroma of the dried fruits.
