This Is What A Typical Sunday Brunch Looks Like At Mouni Roy’s House

Mouni Roy showcased her talent yet again when she appeared on the big screens as Junoon in her recent blockbuster, ‘Brahmastra: Part One’. We were mesmerised by her acting skills, as always! We did an exciting Dussehra Special episode for the Sunday Brunch with this Bengali sensation herself. Mouni met our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, at Badmaash in Andheri West, Mumbai to chat about Durga Puja, Bengali food and more. Catch the video below.

A Typical Durga Puja Sunday Brunch At Mouni Roy’s House

Before starting our Sunday Brunch food segment, it was only right to ask Mouni Roy about her typical Sunday Brunch food scenes at her household. In response, she said she adores eating Bengali food prepared at home. She continued by enumerating the typical Bengali foods that are usually prepared during Durga Puja’s bhog. It includes khichuri (khichdi), labra (Bengali’s mix-veg dish with Bengali veggies), different kinds of fried veggies like guri guri aloo bhaja, potol bhaja (pointed gourd), and jhinge bhaja (ridged gourd). For desserts, she added that it is mishti doi and roshogulla.

Kamiya then questioned if Mouni Roy could prepare any of these dishes. She replied that she could not make all of the above-mentioned dishes but could make khichuri and labra. She also elaborated that the labra is a dish that is rich in iron and protein so it is healthy. We really want to try your home-cooked khichuri and labra for a Sunday brunch, Mouni!

We were curious about Mouni Roy’s very first payday! We questioned her about how she got her first paycheck because we wanted to learn if it was an entertainment gig or something else. She started by telling us that it was with Balaji Telefilms but then instantly revised her response.

She told us that she had written something for a newspaper for an amount of ₹5,500. She couldn’t recall the newspaper but this happened back when she was staying in Delhi. This is also quite cool for a first paycheck, don’t you think? Can we get hold of that written piece if we dig deeper for it?
