Technology is taking over every aspect of our lives and is permeating all possible arenas. So why should our spiritual lives remain untouched? In a recent development, a temple in Kerala is all set to furnish its patrons with a mobile application which will allow them to enjoy a tour of the temple from anywhere. The tourism department has approved an augmented reality or AR project that will showcase the temple in all its glory via an AR tour.

The famous temple in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, is going to develop an app that allows AR tours of the place. This decision is taken in order to improve the tourism aspects of the place.

This particular project is aimed to be completed in six months. The Department of Tourism has allotted a total of ₹60.18 lakhs for the project. According to an article by Omanorama, the Department of Tourism stated that the project would entail making certain videos. The preparation of the videos alone would cost around ₹45 lacs.

Additionally, ₹6 lacs would be required to conduct some research, design an interface for the mobile application, and develop the app. The total expense including the Goods and Services Tax or the GST will be ₹60.18 lacs.

Project To Be Completed In Six Months

According to the Omanorama article, the authorities instructed that the app should be completed within the duration of six months. Through the AR app, patrons will get to witness the celebrations of various festivals in the temple.

For instance, they can enjoy images of Alapsi, Velakali, Pallivetta, the Painkuni festival, Navratri celebrations, Lakshadeepam, and more. Users of the app can even navigate through the temple using the map that will be provided.

The app will also feature 3D animation and 360-Degree images. This particular feature, if successful, will also be implemented in other temples in the Alappuzha district of Kerala.
