Madinat Jumeirah, the 15-year old luxury resort and leisure destination will soon get a brand new look and we just can’t keep calm! Here’s what the renovation plan looks like.
What’s It?
Dubai’s favourite tourist spot Madinat Jumeirah will soon have a brand new look. Souk Madinat, the Arabian inspired shopping and leisure destination will soon get a makeover, in order to give the customers a better experience.
The renovation plan includes touching up the 15-year old property’s interiors, and the main entrance, allotting a dedicated stand for taxis, and a parking area for tourist buses.
Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority have also been roped into the project, in order to carry on the renovation with minimum inconvenience to the surrounding hotels or the events being hosted at the resort. The makeover also includes the redevelopment of the roads leading to and from Madinat Jumeirah, in order to relieve congestion caused by the current one-way system.
Khalid Al Malik, managing director of Dubai Holding, said: “The current upgrade aims to not only improve the destination’s connectivity and infrastructure but to also reimagine its core offerings and build on its reputation as one of Dubai’s most iconic leisure – and entertainment-led retail destinations.”
What Else?
Along with being home to some of the best cafes and restaurants in town, Madinat Jumeirah also has steal-worthy souvenirs. Once you enter Souk Madinat, you are welcomed by narrow passages, looking straight out of the 70s. The winding passageways and the scents of oud perfume lead you to an array of shops stocked with treasures and wonders from the region. The shops sell all things Arabic- hand-crafted hookahs, decorative pieces, clothes, furniture, and a whole lot of other things that depict the region’s culture and tradition.
